Set up in 1959 with the aim of promoting cultural exchange and co-operation within the film industry, the Moscow International Film Festival is a major competitive event in the cinematic year. Various prizes are awarded by an international jury.
The main prize is the Golden St George for Best Film, with Silver St Georges awarded for Best Director, Actor and Actress and a Special Jury prize Silver St George amongst the many others.
